Alternative Shelter (w/LA Urban Rangers), 2011

In conjunction with the LA Urban Rangers’ Critical Campout at MOCA’s Open Engagement Party, a tent was erected on-site as a workshop space. Participants in the all-night event were prompted to envision “alternative shelter for a changing urban climate” Through dialogue, participants were prompted to paint their ideas on fabric panels to add to the fort-like installation, which was designed in response to MOCA’s existing architecture. Participants to the greater event attended a variety of events and city walking tours led by the LA Urban Rangers, and some camped overnight in the museum’s outdoor space as part of the program.
